Cascade Cottage

Cascade Cottage is one of the original cottages in the historic mining town of Derby. The Cottage has been lovingly refurbished and fitted out for a biking holiday. It is conveniently located on Cascade Dam Road that leads up to the Black Stump network, close to the Trailhead and easy walk to Main Street bike shops and cafes.

The Space: Cascade Cottage now has 3 buildings and sleeps up to 11 guests. It is ideal for shared use by 2-3 families or larger groups who like to balance time for socialising with personal time away from the group.

Cascade Cottage - The Refurbished Miner’s Cottage: The Cottage sleeps 4 people, with 2 long singles in the main bedroom (which can be zipped to make a king size) and 2 singles in the second bedroom. Cascade Cottage has two sitting rooms, a fully self-contained and well-equipped kitchen with a large gas range, fridge, microwave, espresso coffee machine, and slow cooker. There are two decks, one covered, with gas BBQs and outdoor settings.

Studio Apartment – Separate Barn Building with Stunning Views: Our Studio Apartment (3rd Bedroom) accommodates up to 3 people. The set up can be either 3 single beds OR 1 single and 1 King size bed. The Studio Apartment has its own bathroom and kitchenette with fridge, microwave, hot plate, kettle, and general kitchen accessories. It is located in the barn building next to the Cottage and has its own separate deck with outdoor setting and gas BBQ. The bedroom in the apartment features a large window overlooking the Cascade Forest and offers a space to relax and unwind after an active day.

Loft Room – For Additional Guests: A separate Loft Room (4th Bedroom) in the third building can accommodate up to four people in four single beds (2 can be joined to make a King Size). A powder room (toilet) is located downstairs in the same building. A separate full bathroom can be accessed in the middle building next door.

Additional Facilities: All linen and towels are included in your booking. There is a large laundry (washing machine and dryer) and plenty of secure storage for bikes or other equipment. We also have two additional large fridges for use by larger groups who may bring more supplies. With electric heating to keep the house warm and electric blankets on all beds, cold weather is no concern.

A good collection of DVD’s, books and games are provided for your enjoyment. The Cascade Cottage buildings are set in a beautiful garden with views of Cascade Forest and the surrounding hills. Guests can use three outdoor areas (including an undercover deck) with outdoor seating and two gas BBQs. Shops and restaurants on Main Street are in short walking (or riding) distance.

The start of the Blue Derby Bike Trails is just a few minutes from the house (you just have to roll down the hill) and the Black Stump shuttles pass the property on the way up.
